SEL Space

Social and emotional learning (SEL) helps young people and adults develop healthy identities, manage emotions, achieve goals, show empathy, build relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEL programs improve attendance, grades, and behavior. New Jersey promotes SEL to create positive school climates and support youth development, alongside anti-bullying practices. With academic and social pressures causing stress and anxiety, an SEL Space offers students a safe, supervised area to address emotional challenges. This grant will provide a space where students experiencing an emotional response to the environment, social situations, or conflict with peers or adults can decompress, have a quiet lunch, or work through crises in a supportive environment.
